The origin of Darwinism from mysticism by Faisal Rahman

Why did Charles Darwin a Christian dervish believed that man evolved from ape ?
Let me tell you a story first
Once Upon a time  there was a Sufi ( He was a Dehlavi) devout who while giving lectures never used to look at the face of his followers.
One day a disciple of his asked "Guru why  you don't look at the face of the disciple when you deliver  lectures?"
The Sufi without giving any answer took of his namaz cap and put it on the head of his disciple.

When wore the cap the disciple looked at his fellow members and saw that each man is some sort of animal. par example some are panthers , some are wolves, some are bears ,some are tigers  e.t.c    That is the Kashf ( insight) of the disciple got opened and he could see the Nafs (soul) of people and soul of the people were mostly in animal level. this concept is similar to the concept found  in the movie golden compass. The film is set in a world where a person's spirits resides outside their body in an animal-like form called a Demon.

Nafsi Ammara
In this first level of the development of man, the rational self and human conscience have been defeated by lust and carnal desires. At this stage, our self does not recognize any rational or moral barriers to get what it wants. It expresses itself in selfishness, arrogance, ambition, stinginess, envy, anger, cynicism, laziness and stupidity. Originally, nafs, ones self, identity, ones own personality and reality, is one of the Creator’s gifts to man. But because we allow it to lean towards material values, to take pleasure only in worldly life, and because we succumb to fleshly lusts, it has turned ugly and become almost animal-like, while its shape remains that of a human being. It is a fauve camouflaged in the appearance of man, a mad wild animal which bites and claws itself as well as others (source:- Sufi Path of Love Platform Naqshbandi Haqqani Rabbani Holland:internet)

First we talk about fairy tales .
Reader is familiar with the above illustrations , these are illustrations done by  Beatrix Potter, here we can see she depicted the animals in human forms . Why did she do it  ? where she got her ideas from? Now we look at the life of Beatrix Potter Helen Beatrix Potter (28 July 1866 – 22 December 1943) was an English author, illustrator , natural scientist and Conservationist , best known for her imaginative children’s books featuring animals such as those in The Tale of Peter Rabbit which celebrated the British landscape and country life. She was an ascetic and a spinster, In 1913, at the age of 47, she married William Heelis, a respected local solicitor from Hawkshead.
So we can see  Beatrix Potter was an ascetic, then it is logical that she had " kashf " (insight) like those of Sufis and could see man has an animal soul.
That is why she wrote her fairy tales.

Our next subject is Aesop , In Aesop's fables we can also see that  animals are depicted in human forms.Where did Aesop got his idea? Aesop was a man of principle , an ascetic , so he had Kashf (insight) like a Sufi , and he could see that man are animals within.Basically , I think, Aesop  was talking about sufi concept of animal soul that resides in humans. (Nafsi Ammara ) . He was saying human behavior is guided by this animal soul.

The Bengali  writer Sukumar Ray  also wrote  fairy tales ( Ha Ja Ba ra La ) where animals were depicted in human forms  as in Beatrix Potter ,Aesop., Alice in wonder land .

Sukumar Ray was a saintly type , so he had insight like Sufi. he saw animal soul that resides inside man.

Lewis Carroll's  Alice in wonder land  has  animal character which wear clothes  and walks and talks like man . Mr. Carroll was a saint , then he  had insight like Sufi ; could see the nafs ammara in men .
General Law : Beatrix Potter , Lewis Carroll , Sukumar Ray , Aesop , Dehlavi were all saints.
Therefore , saints and dervishes  can see the beasts that resides in human body .

H.G.Wells  wrote a novel The island of Dr.Moreau  where a certain Dr.Moreau gave the animals ability to talk and walk like man  by means of  surgery. Now where did H.G.Wells got his idea from? it is plausible that he had insight like that of Sufi
so he could see the animals within man ,that's where he wrote the novel.
same thing can be said about George Orwell's  Animal Farm.

in the satire animal farm  , animals could walk and talk like men. so Orwell also had insight , could see the animal within men ,from there he wrote the book.
therefore  we come to a general rulesaints can see the animal soul within men. then , Anthropomorphism in Science fiction comes from insight (Kashf)
So we can write : Anthropomorphism = Sufism.

The Island  of Doctor Moreau   is about Darwinism .Thus , Anthropomorphism = Darwinism.

Now we come to Darwinism.

Biologically  man evolved from the apes  , so man can be pictured  as apes in clothes; walking and talking , as in the film planet of the apes or as in cartoon of Darwin's.
scientifically man is a walking talking monkey, like those found in fairy tales. loosely from Darwinism  we can see that man are form of animals in clothes;walking and talking, like Aesop's fables. (then Aesop's fables are a form of Darwinism?) Aesopism says human behavior comes from the animal soul that resides in them ; similarly , Darwinism advocates that human emotions come from animal ancestors by means of Evolution. So Darwinism is "biological-ized" version of Aesop's Fables.  it is also like the vision of Sufi Mr. Dehlavi , where  men are spiritually  animals.
Then   Aesop-ism = Darwinism
 and   Aesop-ism = Anthropomorphism = Sufism
Therefore,   Darwinism = Sufism.

It is known fact that Charles Darwin  was a christian Dervish , in other words a sufi . then Darwin had insight (Kashf)  he could see animals within men , this way  he realized man is a form of animal.similarly H.G.Wells saw animal within men, based on that idea He wrote The island of Dr.Moreau , from same idea Beatrix Potter wrote her fairy tales.
Understanding that man is an animal , he turned his attention toward comparative anatomy , figured out the cause of anatomical similarity, and formulated theory of evolution. That is he Biological-ized Aesop's ideas.

It is academically  accepted that Darwin  traveled the  globe on H M S Beagle , saw many varieties of a same species , specially in the Galapagos , and read Lyell's idea on slow geological change and there he got the idea that species have a common origin and Man evolved from a lower form. But the Mystical knowledge existed in his mind long before his voyage , he just gathered biological data to support his insight ( Kasf).
So our discussion shows the fact that knowledge of Darwinism came from the spiritual plane.

Epistemology:
The word Qalb, stands for heart. In Sufi terminology, this spiritual heart (not to be confused with the blood pumping organ) is again variously described. For some, it is the seat of beatific vision. Others consider it the gate of Ishq or Divine love. Yet, for the majority, it is the battleground of two warring armies: those of Nafs and Ruh or spirit. Here, one again encounters terminological confusion: for the Sufis influenced by Neo-Platonism, a "higher" part of Nafs is equated to the Aql or intellect (called Nafs-I-Natiqa) or "rational soul" and is the central active agent in spiritual battle.  Charles Darwin , was a christian friar, He was Dervish  Like Mr. Dehlavi , He  achieved the intellectual soul (Aql) and insight ( Kashf ) . So he could see the souls ( Nafs ) of Man , which are in animal forms , He like Aesop realized that the Cause of human ethos is this animal soul . Then He Biological - ized his  mystical insight by gathering data from Comparative anatomy  and paleontology . He showed that man evolved from beasts , that's why man has beast like emotion. it is something like biological explanation of Aesop's fables.
